Mellowdrone is a rock band from Los Angeles, California and is comprised by founding member Jonathan Bates, Tony Dematteo, and Brian Borg. The band's music encompasses a range of styles from psychadelic rock to experimental.

Mellowdrone are a band that craft songs for the music lover. Best known for their guitar-driven sonic textures, mood-conscious lyrics, and contemporary songwriting prowess â€“ they have this mystic ability to engage your aural sense. Whether it be countless sonic layers, or simply â€˜unplugged,â€™ the common thread is a well-crafted rock song. Todayâ€™s bands easily and fashionably portray apathy, claiming to make music only for them selves, but in contrast Mellowdrone â€“ simply put â€“ care a lot. This is becomes evident as you watch and listen to them putting their best into each song. And the result is as sweet as Dutch Apple Pie, and well â€“ like a delicious.

Mike Wolf of Time Out New York has called Cementhead lead Gordon Smethurst, "A fierce guitarist with punkish beats." Todd Robertson's pounding drums, Aaron McQuade's melodic bass-lines, and Smethurst's whiskey-soaked, throat-shredding vocals evoke late-night walks over the Williamsburg Bridge. The band has shared members from Built to Spill, The Negatones and Skycam, and was recently featured on Pat Duncan's legendary punk rock show on WFMU.
