George Stanford

  • George Simon Stanford made his way to the front of the band through the brass section, where he played trombone in every type of band he could as a kid. Trombone proved to be a dangerous 'gateway' instrument, leading him to the bass, guitar, keyboards, and anything else that would make noise. He studied music theory at University of the Arts in his native Philadelphia for a year, where he formed the rock group Townhall. Realizing the academic lifestyle wasn't for him, he left school to set out on the road with his band, and after touring, recording, and starving for over five years, the group decided to go their separate ways in early 2006. With the demons of rock and roll calling his name louder than ever, and a new understanding of his own musical voice, George left his home and family for the bright lights of Los Angeles, to record a batch of new tunes. Within weeks of getting to the big city, he signed a recording contract with Epic Records. After a little corporate shake up in early 2007, George moved to Smash/Mercury Records, who will release his major label debut later this year.

Sara Melson

  • Sara Melson grew up in a small town in Indiana, writing on piano and guitar. She performs both with and without a band, and has been called “a female Jeff Tweedy.” Her timeless songs blur the boundaries between rock, folk, and pop; her soulful voice is at once tender and strong, her lyrics introspective, honest, witty and precise. Sara’s debut full length, “Dirty Mind,” out February 26th on Nettwerk Records, charted on iTunes within two days of its release, and the first track off the record was featured in a recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Sara has completed four self-produced music videos, and her self-released Five Song EP was selected by Launch.com/’Yahoo as a Top Ten Pick in its Cool as Folk Radiocast, along with Beck, Damien Rice, and Sondre Lerche. Songs from the EP have been aired on Indie 103.1, XM Satellite Radio, and KCRW, and have been featured in the ABC television show Men In Trees, the new Viacom show South Of Nowhere, and in the independent films Spectres and Safe House. Sara has shared a stage with Inara George, Juliana Hatfield, Jill Sobule, Marjorie Faire, Ian Ball, Ben Lee, and BRMC, among others, and was recently a guest vocalist with UK band Mojave 3 on their southern California tour, performing on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic with Nic Harcourt. She has been a featured artist at the Midwest Music Summit and was sponsored on an acoustic tour of Japan.

“Like Laura Nyro hooking up with Beggars’ Banquet-era Rolling Stones… Something special.” ---Steven Mirkin, Daily Variety
