Lissy Trullie

Lissy Trullie is a musician based in New York City. Having played around with various lineups in the last couple of years, in 2008 she solidified her band. The past few months have seen her compelling songwriting and on point live performances steadily gain attention and fans around the city. Time Out New York remarked that "Her dangerously cool tunes, which mash up dancey new wave, '60's girl-group sounds and the softer side of the Velvet Underground, hit upon the core aloofness that typifies most great New York rock. Simply put, Trullie's magnetism is the kind that can't be learned." Flaunt describes her as "an impeccably self-styled singer and songwriter--a sort of anti-Dylan, immaculately conceived by Grace Slick, birthed in a downtown alley at night, while 'Play With Fire' by the Rolling Stones echoed in the street." As a CMJ 2008 Pick for Spin, they raved that there is "an elegance about Trullie's simple aesthetic, from the unadorned guitar work to her coy but monosyllabic lyrics, and she exuded a captivating vulnerability when her boyish voice grasped at higher pitches."

It always begins with that lightbulb.

A concept, an idea....born. When Dylan Von Wagner started Linfinity in 2007, the moniker he used to name his project went from mere concept to actual fruition when he recorded an EP with a few friends at The Walkmen's studio, Marcata, in Harlem.

From there, he used this model vision to quarantine a band later that year. St Ives (a vinyl only label) by the Swanson brothers [Secretly Canadian] found interest in this concept and released a full album of demos "Live at Marcata," - a solo acoustic endeavor by Von Wagner full of pure, new, melodic vignettes.

Into the fold came Bassist Nick Hundley, Drummer Russ Lemkin, Guitarist Josh Collins, Megan Berson Violin/Viola, and Omer Shemesh on keys. After assessing the sound of Von Wagner's original ideas, they began to push and tread to find the right direction as a collective.

With some slight experimentation in the line up, Linfinity began to carve out a sound and in the summer of 2008 cut their First EP, "Songs of The Weeping Willow".

Recorded at a barn in New Paltz, NY with Kevin McMahon [The Felice brothers, Titus Andronicus}, the five song EP is snapshots of a troubled time over the recent passing of a family member giving gravity to the formation.

Masterpiece completed, the band decided to put it up for free online and continued to paint the downtown NYC scene with their bombastic, thrilling live shows.

In 2009, with a strong fan base established and shows packed, the band decided once again to capitalize on the sincere interest from the music community at large to record their debut record.

The most recent Linfinity opus was completed at Excello Recordings in Brooklyn, New York. It was recorded with producer Josh Hager, and later mixed in submarine-turned-studio in the Atlantic ocean.
Frankpollis

"Braving chilly temperatures, rockers flocked to New York City's Lower East Side venue Pianos last night for a set of atmospheric and shoegazey pop by Brooklyn trio Frankpollis. Amidst an impressive set of ethereal slow dives, haunting vocal crescendos, and sugary guitar reverbs, all lassoed by driving drum and bass structures, Frankpollis -- whose previous claim to fame was having NYC club kid Jackson Pollis as their drummer -- had little idea what piece of rock nostalgia lay ahead.
Throughout their set, a tipsy character seemed to be heckling the band from the front of the stage, but perked ears soon understood the man's words to be ones of encouragement and advice, albeit mostly of the slurry type. But when the crusty-looking rocker jumped onstage as the set ended, the lights revealed him to be Brian Jonestown Massacre's infamous anti-star, Anton Newcombe.

After convincing both Frankpollis and the sound guy to hang out for a few more minutes, Newcombe huddled with the band over a few quick musical logistics before directing them in a reprise of their own "Truth's Been Told," which they'd just played by themselves moments earlier. Newcombe contributed vocal melodies, backing harmonies, and garbled interjections. "It makes me want to play music when I see kids play music," said Newcombe, who told SPIN.com that he just happened to be at the club meeting a friend. "They're so amazing, and they're just kids. Plus, I live just down the block."

Paul and The Patients

Paul and The Patients are making really great music. Their songs blend melody and a brooding dissonance, all the while buoyed by propulsive rhythms that kick along and kept them from singing into utter darkness. American Myth Recordings is proud to be working with Paul and The Patients. More to come soon, but for now please take a listen to some of the early demos on MySpace.
