- Fan-Tan formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It began as a duo project of Ryan Lee (vocals, guitar) and Kuki Kooks (drums) in the fall of 2006. They expanded the project into a complete band, recruiting Sandee Kooks (bass guitar) and Mike Walters (synthesizer). They relocated to New York City in 2007.
