The Watson Twins' debut full-length, Fire Songs, was recorded in September 2007 at Everest Analog Recorders and New Monkey Studios, both in Los Angeles. The unique approach by producers Russell Pollard (Sebadoh, Folk Implosion, Alaska!, Everest) and J. Soda (Slydell, Everest), called for an all analog recording, ultimately capturing The Watson Twins' raw vocals on songs like "How Am I To Be", "Map To Where You Are" and the Cure cover "Just Like Heaven." Fire Songs is set for release June 24, 2008 on Vanguard Records; a historic label over 50-years-old that has been home to Doc Watson, Levon Helm, Mindy Smith, John Fahey and Joan Baez. Gaining fans in the indie-rock, folk and alternative-country music scenes, The Watson Twins – whose visual presence equals their vocal presence – can’t be easily categorized. Their music is an evocative approach to warm, familiar sounds, which intrigue and enchant.

Canvas shorts and reggae music sound like summer spent by the water being lazy. Sean Bones is not lazy. Aside from holding down bass duties in indie sons Sam Champion, he designs and runs S/S Friends, Ltd.--a line of limited edition canvas shorts, zines, and vinyl based in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn--and cuts old-school reggae tracks under his own name. "Easy Street" is basically a classic pop joint with some give, all swelling B3 stabs, doo-wop harmonies, and Sean's wandering drawl over it all. For those that think Vampire Weekend too obviously cop African sounds, scope this track's perfect marriage of reggae rhythms and pop structure, the chord change on the chorus really pushes it next level.
