“Sometimes a small thing can really brighten your day. Like when you’re on your way to work and a train pulls into the station just as you come down the stairs. Or when you put on a pair of pants that you haven’t worn for a week or so and you find a five dollar bill in the pocket. When this happens, it’s kind of like an anonymous stranger is buying you a cup of coffee and a donut. Occasionally you have to thank god for the small favors. It is in this spirit that I would like to offer up a little prayer of thanks for Community Gun. This scrappy five piece blues rock band will shamble their way onto your stereo and win you over with an unexpected dash of style.” - tough customer

Julia is an NYC based musician and songwriter who likes rooftops and cornfields and all the people in between. She plays both solo and with a band and her set is always full of energy, charisma and a variety of songs that stay in your head long after the show at which point you can join her at the bar for a whiskey. She's the love-sound-child of Dylan and DiFranco, Bright Eyes and Cat power and as NYC music blogger, Cassie Newman, describes "Julia is one of those transparent performers who wears her heart on her sleeve. Her lyrical songs speak beautifully to her unique sense of humor and perspective. Even her guitar strumming seems dictated by her impulses, alternating between big and passionate and quiet and gentle." She juxtaposes urban imagery with vivid metaphors of the natural world and while many of her songs about relationships are deeply personal, they also express universal emotion through a dynamic combination of percussive guitar melodies, poetic lyrics, and a raw voice. Julia has a self-titled, self-produced ALBUM out on iTunes and cdbaby and she is gearing up to record a second, even awesomer album soon.
