Hollis Brown
With a distinct sound uniting hook-soaked pop and blues-drenched rock and roll, Hollis Brown is a throwback to an era when music felt fresh, songwriting was revered, and performances routinely inspired. Born and raised in New York City, Hollis Brown released their self-titled debut record in September '09 on indie label Vibe Theory Music. The album has been well-received, charting on CMJ radio stations and earning the band placements on several network television series such as MTV's "The Real World: DC" and "College Life". "Hollis Brown" was also featured on Napster and Amazon as "Critic's Choice" selections.
The band has been touring the Northeast US for the last year, building their fanbase through their dynamic live shows. Hollis Brown played several festivals in 2009 including the annual CMJ Music Marathon. The band is currently recording their follow up release at The Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn.
The Yes Way
myspace
Culture Of Me says : In this over-mediated, completely saturated terrain we all consider our lives, it's shockingly hard-pressed to find an act that's absent of even a marginal amount of weaselly self-importance. But a humble, self-reliant tree grows in Brooklyn and a band, a set of guys who call themselves The Yes Way, are the ones who planted the seeds. Putting all that is righteous and admirable about the craft of songwriting into their indie rock blender, The Yes Way create a medium-fi (trademark), moody, not-quite-pop mixture of expansive guitars, snapping drums and shape-shifting vocal harmonies.
