John lives in NJ and spends most of his days surfing. He also sings and plays guitar. Sergie lives in downtown Los Angeles and makes various works of art for a living. He plays electric guitar quite nicely. Garrett lives in Brooklyn and wears a suit from 9-5. he also sings and plays the guitar. As you can imagine it’s rather difficult for the three of them to be in the same room together due to the miles in between. But when they do it sounds nice. there is absolutely no solid plan to follow. No rules. No deadlines. No restrictions. also, there is no label. Which means there is no money. But there are a few songs and already a few good memories with plenty more to come. Which means there’s a few more things they can add to the list one day. Oh, and they really really love Philipp.
A concept originating from the ether of Saratoga Springs, New York back in 2006, The Wind-Up evolved into actual material substance in the Summer of 2008 over a bag of Doritos and an 18-pack of Coors Light. Rob said: "I and you can wrote those songs here you go-go." MJ said: "What?" The dog raised an eyebrow, befuddled by the exchange. The rest, I believe, can be inferred.
Robert Jonas is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and equestrian escape artist from Long Island. There is some dispute over the veracity of this guise, however, as distant acquaintances have recently suggested his real name may be Dick Whitman.
Matt Johnson, a keyboardist, composer, percussionist, and geek, is best known for his contributions to quantum molecular theory, where he made his mark by pointing out to his colleagues that they were wasting their time and should probably switch to Mac.
Matty Bernstein has already made the switch, and wastes no time: when not playing the bass, singing backup, or producing The Wind-Up's next great record, he does essentially nothing.
David Levy has terrific hair and a winning smile. He plays the guitar and comes from Craigslist.
James Guimaraes, by contrast, has an embarassing haircut and a peculiar expression on his face (see picture to the right). Hailing from New York, James is a master of the drum kit and often uses obsolescent musical terminology like "drum kit" and "where are my pants?"
Amber Lee has honed her musical style in a way that can only be described as grass roots guerrilla warfare - by listening and watching other musicians and by working through deep personal experiences. Though she enjoyed singing as a child, the Ontario native never struck out to be a professional musician. She was, however, always an artist at heart. She majored in film at Concordia, followed by studying business at both the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada and The Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands. It wasn't until the summer after her 19th birthday that she began playing the guitar and penning songs to accompany. She was hooked and quickly thereafter she worked her way out of the living rooms of friends and onto the stage of various venues across Canada and new york city, as she eventually accepted her calling.
Despite a fairly accidental and atypical start, music has been a constant thread in her life that has always pointed back towards shaping who she is as a person, a songwriter and an entertainer. Her songs weave the stories, experiences and seasoning of a poet and an explorer: loving, effusive and courageous. They are relatable, yet intensely personal.
She croons with the juxtaposition of rhythmic strength and soft spoken lyrics always accented by undertones of something gentle and true. Her original chord progressions and emotive guitar styling’s illuminate her thoughtful and indelible lyrics. And still, it's Amber’s easygoing personality, genuine enthusiasm, irrevocable humor, and ever-approachable nature that lends absolute comfort to the audiences she plays for.
